Maestro, JinHyoun BAEK, 白鎭鉉(韓國.Korea)
Maestro Jin BAEK(DMA, Dr.S.Arts) is an Artistic Director of Busan Festival Orchestra since 1996. He is a Artistic director & Executive Chairman of Busan Maru International Music Festival. He is also Principal Guest Conductor of China's Tianjin Symphony Orchestra since 2004. He held a position as an Artistic Director of Masan Philharmonic Orchestra since 2003 until 2011.
He has conducted most of Korea's prestigious orchestras such as the Korean Symphony Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, Daegu Philharmonic Orchestra, Gwangju Philharmonic Orchestra, Masan Philharmonic Orchestra, Pohang Symphony Orchestra. Gangneung Philharmonic Orchestra, Daegu Opera Orchestra, United Korean Orchestra, Ulsan Sinfoniett, Chungnam Sinfonietta, Changwon Philharmonic Orchestra, Kimhae Philharmonic Orchestra, Eulsukdo Symphony Orchestra, Korea Wind Philharmony. He is in great demand in Asia as well as in the rest of the world, conducting such orchestras as the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra and Extremadura Symphony Orchestra in Spain, San Remo Symphony Orchestra in Italy, Orchestre Symphonique de Longueuil Canada, Nordböhmischen Philharmonie in Czech, SATOBM Orchestra Mongolia, Slovak Sinfonietta in Slovakia, Symmetry Ensemble in Germany, Moscow Sinfonietta, Far East Symphony Orchestra and The Union of concert Orchestra of the Russian Federation. St. Petersburg International Music Festival “St. Petersburg Palaces” with Taurida International Symphony Orchestra in Russia, Remenyi Ede Orchestra in Hungary, State Symphony Orchestra of México, Cuban National Symphony of Cuba, Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, Wuhan Philharmonic Orchestra in China, Filarmonica Brasov in Romania, Garland Symphony, Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Arlington, CW Post Orchestra, BYU Wind Symphony, Hartt Symphony and Hartt Contemporary Ensemble Orchestra in USA. Also in 2011, he made a great debut in Japan with NU Opera Orchestra conducting ‘Le nozze di Figaro,’ ‘L’Elisir d’amore,’ Lucia di Lammermoor, The Magic Flute, Turandot, La Cenerentola, Carmen, The Barber of Seville and others. He received great reviews about his musicality and ability as a conductor from many critics.
Under his tutelage, both the Masan Philharmonic Orchestra and Festival Orchestra have been invited to participate in major orchestra festivals worldwide, increasing their international reputation on the world's leading concert halls. Jin Baek has received numerous awards including the 27th "Today's Leading Musician" Award and Busan Artist Award for his contributions to the advancement of classical music in South Korea.
He received a Bachelor's Degree from Keimyung University in Korea, a Master's Degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, and Post-Graduate Diploma from the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. Maestro Baek was awarded a full scholarship to study advanced conducting at the University of Hartford to complete an Artist Diploma with Harold Farberman. He was awarded a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Far Eastern State Academy of Arts in Russia where he studied Opera-Symphony Conducting with Sergei Borshev and Doctor Science of Arts degree from Silla University. He currently conducting professor at Dongseo University Graduate School.
